How the app works

The 112 app gives you instant information about fires, accidents, and other serious incidents near you. The 112 app uses your location to provide relevant alerts, so you can act quickly and avoid danger. You’ll also receive updates during major crises and access to life-saving knowledge such as CPR.

Download the 112 app and make your everyday life safer.

This is how the app works

112 events

The app provides you with instant information about 112 events happening in your vicinity. We inform you about events classified as:

  • fires,
  • road accidents,
  • explosions
  • boating accidents
  • and person in distress in water.

When you receive a notification, you can feel assured that help is already on the way, and you don’t need to call 112 yourself. This helps reduce the strain on the emergency number.

Extra map support

For those who are visually impaired or for children, there is a special map feature that makes it easier to understand where the incident has occurred.

VMA

In the event of serious incidents that threaten life, health, property, or the environment, you will receive an Important Public Announcement (VMA in Swedish) directly in the app if you are near the incident. This could include gas leaks, large fires, or other major accidents.

Read the information carefully, as it may contain vital instructions such as going indoors and closing windows. You will only receive important announcements relevant to your current location.

Important announcements (VMAs) via the 112 app are a complement to the regular VMA channels and do not replace broadcasts via radio, TV, or SMS.

Crisis information

When something serious happens in society, you receive fast and reliable information directly in the 112 app. This can include:

  • Smoke spreading from fires,
  • Dangerous or weak ice,
  • Pandemics and disease outbreaks,
  • Water leaks and disruptions in water supply,
  • Flooding and extreme weather.

You choose which types of information you want to receive notifications about.

Preventive information

Do you want to know how to save a life if someone suffers a cardiac arrest? In the 112 app, you find clear, step-by-step instructions on how to perform CPR – right when every second counts. This way, the knowledge is always close at hand.

Through the app, you also get access to the Swedish CPR Council’s interactive online training for adult CPR.
